In Dubai, "maid service" can mean three very different things: an hourly cleaner from a licensed agency, a part-time recurring visit, or a full-time live-in maid on a Tadbeer contract. They differ in cost, commitment, and — most importantly — what's legal for you as an employer.
The three options
1. Hourly maid from a licensed cleaning company
The most flexible option. You book a cleaner by the hour through a licensed cleaning company. The company handles employment, insurance, and cover. Typical rate in 2026: AED 35–45 per hour with short minimum bookings. Best for one-off help, weekly upkeep, or when you don't want to manage employment yourself.
2. Part-time recurring plan
Same-cleaner visits on a weekly or fortnightly schedule via a licensed cleaning company. Rates typically run AED 300–500 per week for a 4-hour visit. Best when you want consistency without a live-in commitment.
3. Full-time live-in maid via Tadbeer
Legally, full-time maids in Dubai must be sponsored through a Tadbeer service centre — not privately. Costs start around AED 4,000–6,000 per month depending on nationality and package, plus a refundable deposit. Best for large households where full-time in-home help is genuinely needed.
What to look for in a licensed agency
- A valid Dubai trade licence — ask to see it and check the number on the DED portal.
- Public liability insurance covering damage to your property and third-party incidents.
- Background-verified staff — proper agencies vet employment history and provide staff IDs.
- Written service scope and pricing — no vague verbal quotes.
- Replacement policy — cover if your regular cleaner is unavailable.
- Reachable customer support during Dubai working hours (Sun–Thu at minimum).
Red flags
- A price that's significantly below AED 30/hour. Legitimate operators can't cover wages, insurance, transport, and supplies at that rate.
- No physical office address or trade licence number on the website.
- Cash-only payment with no invoice or receipt.
- Vague answers about who the cleaner works for and whether they're insured.
- Pressure to sign an annual contract on the first call.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is your company licensed in Dubai and can you share your DED number?
- Is the cleaner your direct employee, and are they insured?
- Can I have the same cleaner every visit for recurring plans?
- What happens if the cleaner is sick or on leave?
- Do you bring supplies, or should I provide them?
- What is your guarantee if I'm not satisfied?
